DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

ADAPTS TO YOUR ARCHITECTURE

SBS Core gives pack designers flexible current sensor placement, vibration-resistant side connections, and integrated safety sensing — all in a compact form factor that simplifies pack design.

Whether the application calls for optimized busbar routing, multi-module topologies, or minimal component count, SBS Core's architecture supports it without compromise.

KEY FEATURES

DESIGNED FOR INTEGRATION

The SBS Core delivers core BMS functionality in a cost-optimized, small-footprint package without compromising on safety or performance.

SIDE-MOUNTED CONNECTORS

Horizontal connector orientation distributes harness weight and enables rigid, vibration-resistant connections. The compact form factor matches typical cell height, allowing standing mounting directly next to the cells. IP5K2 rated enclosure.

Icon of contactors symbolizing a horiztontal connector orientation to ensure a compact form of the battery management system.

FLEXIBLE CURRENT SENSING

External shunt architecture lets the pack designer place the current sensor optimally on the busbar. Compatible with dual-alloy shunt for redundant measurement up to ±1,000 A.

ASIL B THERMAL EVENT DETECTION

Integrated thermal event detection achieves ASIL B without external sensor modules. Wake-on-thermal-event capability detects critical conditions even from sleep mode, enabling immediate system response.

SOFTWARE & PLATFORM

BARCELONA PLATFORM

The SBS Core is part of Munich Electrification's 3rd-generation Barcelona BMS platform, sharing a common hardware architecture and software stack with SBS High, SBS Multistring, and SBS Stationary.

All four Barcelona variants run the identical SBS Software Platform. One software image supports every variant, switchable at runtime via the Configuration Framework. This means SBS Core benefits from the same validated, ASIL D ready codebase with 14-day release cadence.

The platform is compatible with ME's CMBXX cell monitoring board family, supporting 6 to 64+ cells per board. SBS Core offers 1–2 isoSPI channels in bus or ring topology, enabling diverse cell monitoring architectures.

  • ONE BINARY, ALL VARIANTS

Same software image runs on SBS Core, SBS High, BMDU, and SBS Stationary. Configuration Framework switches behavior at runtime.

  • 14-DAY RELEASES

Continuous integration with bi-weekly validated releases. Faster iteration, faster time to production.

  • CMBXX COMPATIBILITY

Full compatibility with ME's cell monitoring board family. 6–64+ cells per CMB, scalable to any pack size.
