DRIVING IMPACT BEYOND COMPLIANCE: HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR 2025 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

2025 was a landmark year for our company. Alongside record-breaking revenues and EBITDA, we expanded our global customer base across electric mobility and stationary battery energy storage systems (BESS). But for us, scaling our technology must go hand in hand with minimizing our ecological footprint and elevating responsible corporate governance.
Even amidst regulatory shifts and heightened standard thresholds across Europe, we choose the path of voluntariness by publishing our consolidated 2025 Sustainability Report in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and inspired by the Voluntary Standard for SMEs (VSME).

By providing the critical electronics that ensure battery safety and security, longevity, and efficiency, our core commercial activities directly accelerate the global transition to a low-carbon economy and therefore serve our mission of creating a meaningful impact on everyone‘s life.
As our B2B customers face increasing regulatory and consumer pressure to decarbonize their own value chains and take responsibility for their upstream activities, ME stands ready to cooperate and fulfill sustainability-related requirements.
KEY MILESTONES IN 2025
INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP
As signatories of the Battery Deal for Europe and member of the BVES (German Energy Storage Systems Association), we push for a competitive, circular, and clean battery value chain in Europe.
SCOPE 1 EMISSIONS REDUCED TO ZERO
By transitioning our last hybrid vehicle to a fully battery-electric company car, we completely eliminated direct Scope 1 emissions.
RENEWABLE POWER
Over 92% of our electricity across offices and testing labs comes from renewable sources.
SBTI VALIDATION ACHIEVED
Our near-term target to cut absolute Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 (from a 2023 baseline) received official validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
COMPONENT-LEVEL LCA
We conducted deep-dive Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) to identify hotspots across our Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) pinpointing Integrated Circuits (ICs) and PCB design as core focal points for future low-impact component selection.
IRMA MEMBERSHIP
We officially joined the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA), taking a decisive step to advocate for human rights and environmental protection in upstream raw material supply chains.
PRODUCT INTENSITY DOWN 9.2%
While our total sales volumes multiplied by 2.5x and our total Corporate Carbon Footprint by 18.7x, our product carbon intensity for purchased goods and services (Scope 3.1) decreased to 11.9 kg CO₂e / unit sold (down from 13.1 kg in 2024), achieved alongside a major transition to 98.4% activity-specific data accuracy.
50% DIRECT SUPPLIER ENGAGEMENT
We actively engaged half of our active direct suppliers through ESG self-assessments, carbon surveys, and our Supplier Code of Conduct, enhancing supply chain transparency and risk management.
17% TEAM GROWTH
Our workforce grew to 275 employees across 56 nationalities, maintaining low employee turnover (7.4%) and 0 reported grievance complaints.
To further elevate our CCF data availability and improve efficiency, we intend to automate carbon accounting workflows, exploring AI use cases to reduce manual tasks, and collecting primary PCF data directly from our suppliers. At the same time, as product sales scale and ME grows further, we are proactively managing future emission increases through targeted customer collaboration by shifting downstream transport to sea freight (addressing Scope 3.9 emissions) and gaining deeper insights into product use-phase dynamics (addressing Scope 3.11 emissions) to name only the top ranked Scope 3 categories.
OUR PRIORITIES FOR 2026
As we project further team expansion to approximately 335 employees and prepare to open a second office building in Munich, our sustainability strategy for 2026 focuses on high-impact technical initiatives:
Circular Materials: Investigating recycled plastic content for product housings and building a comprehensive polymer database.
Advanced LCA Models: Finalizing a generic modeling framework to rapidly calculate Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) across our entire portfolio.
Upstream Transparency: Integrating ESG criteria directly into on-site supplier audits and requesting primary carbon data directly from key component suppliers.
We are entering 2026 with a clear plan and the same drive that made 2025 a record year.
